Vaad seeking new LAC members

The Beltway Vaad Lay Advisory Council is soliciting expressions of interest for membership on the Council.  The LAC acts as an advisory body to the Beltway Vaad, a local council of Orthodox clergy comprised of the spiritual leadership of Beth Sholom Congregation, Kehilat Pardes – The Rock Creek Synagogue, Magen David Sephardic Congregation and Ohev Sholom – The National Synagogue.

The LAC serves a variety of roles, including as ambassadors to the community on behalf of the Vaad, a voice to the Vaad for communal concerns, and, when necessary, as a vehicle for accountability and transparency.  For more information on the LAC and its functions, see

To qualify for consideration, an applicant must be an adult resident of the Greater Washington area and a member of a local Orthodox synagogue.  That synagogue neednot have clergy who is a member of the Vaad.  In selecting new members, the LAC will strive for gender equity.

To apply, candidates should send a short note to  Include in the note synagogue affiliation, a description of past communal involvement and a short statement of the nature of your interest and why you believe both the Beltway Vaad and LAC to be important.  (No more than 1-2 paragraphs are needed.)  Deadline for submission is January 2, 2018.
